Vienna, 17 – 18 December 2015

The European Commission organized the “Contact Seminar with the Western Balkans”, in Vienna, Austria, between the 17th and 18th of December 2015.

Eva Garea Oya, the Senior Technician for International Relations and Technical Coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus GreenTech WB Project coordinated by the Universidade de Vigo, participated in this Contact Seminar, an event which brought together over 250 representatives from higher education institutions across the European Union and the Western Balkans (Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia), and offered them concrete networking opportunities in view of the new 2016 Erasmus+ Call for Proposals, published on 20 October 2015.

During the two-day event, the attendants debated a series of topics and then, they were divided in three sections and participated in two networking sessions, in which they moved around from one room to another and talked to other participants, in view of creating new links between institutions and fostering new collaborations and projects.

A particular focus was given to International Credit Mobility, the most recent addition to the Erasmus+ programme. The other international actions, such as Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, Capacity Building in Higher Education and Jean Monnet, were also covered during the event, punctuated by best practice examples, testimonials and networking bilaterals.

The topics tackled during the first day centered on:

- International Credit Mobility

- Centralised international actions under Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, Capacity-Building in Higher Education, Jean Monnet: Overview and Objectives

- Education priorities for the Western Balkans

The day closed with a networking session.

On the second day, participants approached the  topic of the application process: do's and don'ts for a successful application: Mock application and feedback from experts. The session was closed with an engagement session of networking opportunities.
